Bring Solar Power to Hawthorne-Scribner High School in Bududa. Goal is $250,000
REACH works to uplift communities. A crucial part of this is reliable access to power. In order to execute our commitment to sustainable solutions, this power needs to be produced in a manner that minimally impacts the area’s ecology and environment.
In rural eastern Uganda, access to reliable electricity is hard to come by. The communities we work in are often unreached by government infrastructure development projects. Our clinics and schools are currently reliant on solar power. Solar power is a valuable asset for these hard-to-reach operations. It is renewable, clean, reduces use of fossil fuels for energy, and relies on a natural resource that is abundant in the region – sunlight!
As we near the opening of our biggest project yet – the Hawthorne-Scribner High School (HSHS) in Bududa – our need to expand our solar capacity is great. HSHS will house more than 1,300 students. As they study science, IT, engineering, the need for reliable power is imperative to their success. Not only will increased solar capacity support this exciting project, but it will support our existing primary schools and clinics. The current solar technology is in need of a refresh as our schools and clinics have also grown and plan to continue to do so. A new solar farm also presents the opportunity to provide the surrounding community with reliable, renewable energy as well!
To continue sustainably transforming communities, we need reliable energy. We are committed to providing affordable, reliable, and sustainable solutions to help these underserved areas reach their full potential. We need your help to build this infrastructure! The goal of this campaign is $250,000, which would build a new solar farm at HSHS, with capacity to support surrounding areas, and to update existing solar infrastructure in Bududa and Matuwa in Namisindwa district.
