Mother Daughter Day

Seera-Joan

Student Seera Joan at Mother Daughter Day

We had our second annual Mother-Daughter Day at the Uganda school recently, and it was another fun-filled success. Third to seventh grade girls came with their moms or another woman whom they considered a role model. The girls themselves planned the day, and they played netball and musical chairs, ran 3 legged races, wrote letters to each other, and made bead bracelets for each other. After the activities, the girls presented two dances to their moms and we watched a movie (“Frozen”) and had snacks. The girls also had the option of taking pictures with their moms as a small fundraiser for the girls group. The event was an opportunity to promote mothers as role models and mentors. For many of the girls, it is the only time they get individual time with their moms because of the large number of siblings at home.
